Below you will find the selection and prices of the cabins we offer for rent
Hälgö Kayak manages the rental of the County Administrative Board’s cabins on Ekholmen in the Stendörren Nature Reserve. We handle reservations and payments, while the County Administrative Board continues to manage the day-to-day operations on site.
- Each group may book a maximum of:
• one (1) peak-season week (Monday through Sunday)
and
• one (1) low-season period (max. 6 days, Monday through Sunday).
Alternatively, two low-season periods. - The person who booked the cabin must also be the one using it that week; in other words, it is not permitted to book on behalf of someone else.
- No one else in your group—such as a spouse or aunt—is allowed to book their own week or period. If you are included in a week that someone else has booked, you may, of course, book your own off-season period, but you may not book your own summer week—and vice versa. If you are included in two bookings, you may not book any additional stays beyond those.
- You are not permitted to stay longer than the week you booked, even if a friend rented the cabin the week before or after.
- At the end of the rental period, the cottage must be cleaned and vacated.
Anyone who fails to follow these rules may be evicted from the cabin without a refund of the rent.

Information about the cabins at Ekholmen, Stendörren Nature Reserve
On the island of Ekholmen, which is part of the Stendörren Nature Reserve, lies the old fishing lodge Stendörren.
The fishing lodge consists of two cabins: the large cabin a little higher up on the hill and the small cabin right down by the water. Here, you’ll stay just as people did in the old days—without electricity or running water—but with nature and the sea right outside your door!
The Large Cottage: The Large Cottage is a two-story house with a spacious kitchen, living room, and entryway on the lower level. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a hallway with beds. The Large Cottage sleeps a total of 6 people.
The Little Cottage: The Little Cottage is a small, single-story cottage (approx. 35 square meters) with two rooms and a kitchen.
The Little Cottage has 4 beds, two of which are in a bunk bed.

Practical Information for Your Stay
Check-in and Check-out
Low Season: Check-in at 2:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. Check-out at 1:00 p.m. on the day of departure.
High Season: Check-in on Monday at 12.00. Departure Sunday at 18.00
Payment: When booking a cabin, the full rental amount is paid via Klarna. 20% of the amount is a booking fee and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Once the booking is confirmed, you will receive codes for the gate and the life jacket storage area.
Parking: When renting the cottages, parking for one car is included for the small cottage and parking for two cars for the large cottage. The parking spaces are located at the Aspnäset farm and are marked with the respective cottage numbers. When parking, a note with your name, phone number, and the date of your reservation must be placed in a clearly visible spot on the windshield of all cars.
Road Barrier: There is a road barrier along the road to Aspnäset. You will receive the code for the road barrier along with your booking confirmation. You can also contact Naturum Stendörren to get the code.
Rowing Boat: Use of a rowing boat is included in the rental fee. There is one rowing boat for each cottage; they are all the same, so it doesn’t matter which one you take. The boats are moored at the dock by the boathouse. When you arrive at Ekholmen: dock at the jetty by the boathouse. Secure the boat properly. Oars are located under the seat in the stern.
Life jackets: Life jackets are available to borrow in the boathouse. The boathouse is locked with a combination lock. You’ll receive the code along with your booking confirmation. Fill out the rental list with the sizes you’ve borrowed, the dates you’ll be borrowing them, and your name and phone number. When you leave after your stay, return the life jackets and check them off the list.
Keys: The keys to the cabins are in the door of each cabin.
Cooking: The cabins are equipped for self-catering. There are propane-powered refrigerators, and meals are prepared on a wood-burning stove or a propane stove. Dishes are washed by hand in a basin; there is an outdoor sink.
Water: Water is drawn from the communal well and pumped up using an old-fashioned hand pump. Drinking water is also available at the nature center. Containers and buckets are provided in each cabin.
Heating: The large cabin has a hydronic heating system with a wood-burning boiler. The small cabin has a soapstone stove.
Lighting: The cabins are equipped with kerosene lamps and storm lanterns that run on lamp oil. Refill oil is provided in the cabins. Please bring your own candles and a lighter or matches.
Restroom: Each cabin has its own outdoor toilet. There is also an accessible toilet shared by both cabins.
Bedding: Duvets and pillows are provided in the cabins. You must bring and use your own sheets and pillowcases. Sleeping bags may be used.
Wood Shed: Firewood for both cabins is stored in the wood shed at the gable end of the small cabin.
Grill: There is a permanent grill area; please bring your own charcoal.
Pets: Pets are allowed, but please keep them off the beds. Please note that pets must be kept on a leash outdoors, including on the property.
Trash: Next to the outhouse on Ekholmen, there is a compost bin for food scraps. Other trash should be disposed of in the trash containers at the visitor parking lots or at Naturum. There are separate bins for metal, glass, and returnable bottles; everything else goes in the combustible waste bin. Please feel free to take any other recyclables with you and dispose of them at your usual recycling station. Thank you for thinking about the environment!
Bring Your Own: You are responsible for bringing all consumables, such as dish soap, paper towels, soap, towels, and so on, while the landlord provides the furnishings. Don’t forget candles and matches.
Other services: There is a store in Tystberga, about 2 mil from Stendörren. A food cart is located at the nature center; it is open on weekends during the off-season and daily during the high season.
Upon arrival at the cabin
- Make sure the cabin is properly cleaned. If it is not cleaned properly, contact Naturum immediately and specify what is missing.
- Check and compare the inventory list with the equipment in the cabinets. If anything is missing or if there is too much of something—please speak with the tenant of the small cabin to see if it was put in the wrong place; otherwise, contact Naturum.

- Please read through the safety procedures and instructions for using fireplaces, stoves, and propane lamps, as well as for handling candles in the cabins.
Cabin Rules
- You are in a nature reserve. This means that the reserve’s rules also apply here.
- Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a leash at all times when outdoors. Pets are also not allowed on the beds.
- Barbecue only on the permanent grills. You are not allowed to collect firewood in the forest.
- Please be considerate of both wild animals and the grazing animals in the pastures. Feeding the animals is not permitted.
- Follow the instructions on how to light, maintain, and extinguish the various light sources and the stove/fireplace.
- Do not move the kerosene lamps. Instead, use a storm lantern or a candle if you need an additional light source.
- Turn off the propane when it is not in use.
- Upon departure, the cabin and outhouse must be cleaned according to the cleaning instructions. Trash and recyclables must be taken ashore and disposed of in the trash and recycling bins at the visitor parking lots. If the cleaning has not been performed properly, the renter will be billed 3,000 SEK.
Upon departure
- Clean the cabin and the outhouse according to the instructions. The fee for failing to clean is 3,000 SEK.
- Bring in a basket of firewood.
- Turn off the propane valve behind the stove, but leave the refrigerator running.
- Leave the key in the lock on the front door.
- Please take your trash and recyclables with you and dispose of them at the visitor parking lots.
- Moor the boat at the Aspnäset dock and return any borrowed life jackets.
